The Business Council has, since its founding, worked tirelessly to improve the criminal justice system at the state and local level. Through its work with various public interest and criminal justice-focused organizations, initiatives, and advocates, the Business Council has successfully promoted best practices improvements to state and local criminal justice systems. Expanding and expediting the New Orleans Police Department’s recruitment process, assisting in the resolution of the dispute over the New Orleans jail size, justice reinvestment investment, reentry, and promoting the use of technology within the New Orleans Police Department are among the policy changes and initiatives the Business Council has either led or supported.
