Forward New Orleans For Public Schools

Forward New Orleans for Public Schools (FNOPS) is a coalition of diverse civic, business and neighborhood organizations committed to increasing the number of quality public school options and ensure equal access to quality education citywide. Led by the Business Council, FNOPS is composed of more than 20 organizations representing a variety of interests and views but united in their vision to improving educational opportunities and outcomes for New Orleans public school students.

Our Role

Since 2012, FNOPS has sought to enhance the likelihood of success for all public school students by creating issue-based platforms for School Board elections rested on the foundational principles of academic excellence and serving all students fairly and equitably. FNOPS seeks a pledge from each School Board candidate to implement the action items associated with each issue; those pledges are published prior to the election. FNOPS holds School Board members accountable by monitoring and encouraging their performance and periodically reporting on their progress towards completing these action items during their four-year term.

Goals

Through its efforts to identify priority education issues and hold School Board members accountable for their actions, FNOPS aims to help create a public school system that is dedicated to academic excellence and managing resources fairly and equitably for all enrolled students.
